The first measurement
Measure the stored box, then draw the movement path.
A product page's length, width, and height tell you where the machine can sit. They do not tell you whether a person can approach it, extend a handle, step around a frame, mount safely, or return the room to its prior use.
Use tape on the actual floor before buying. Mark the stored footprint, the user path, the reach or seat travel, doors and circulation, and the place where the machine will be reset or stored. That sketch is a planning tool, not a manufacturer clearance guarantee.

The horizontal lane
A rower spends the room along its rail.
Concept2 lists the RowErg at 96 inches long and 24 inches wide, with standard and tall leg options. That published box is already a meaningful room decision before the seat travel, handle path, user access, and movement around the fan are considered.
The RowErg separates into two pieces for storage, which changes the reset plan but does not erase the need for a clear training lane. A split-storage machine still needs a stable place for both pieces and a repeatable setup before each session.

The vertical boundary
A SkiErg trades floor length for height and structure.
Concept2 lists the SkiErg at 85 inches high when wall mounted, with a maximum width of 20.5 inches and a depth of 16 inches. The narrow floor box can be useful in a small room, but only if the wall, ceiling height, pull path, and mounting method are appropriate.
The optional floor stand changes the decision from a wall question to a larger movable footprint. Treat the stand as part of the equipment record when it is the only way the machine fits your building or when you need to move it between sessions.

The fixed corner
A bike can fit a smaller rectangle, but it still owns the corner.
Schwinn lists the IC4 at 54.6 inches long by 30.7 inches wide by 51.8 inches high. That is a smaller stored rectangle than the RowErg, but its 113.6-pound listed weight makes it a fixed station for most shared rooms rather than an object to carry away after every session.
A bike plan still needs approach, dismount, handlebar adjustment, and floor-transmission boundaries. Magnetic resistance may change the machine's mechanical sound, but it does not prove silence or guarantee that another room or neighbor will hear nothing.

The decision
Choose the room and training job together.
Choose a rower when a long horizontal lane and a repeatable pull pattern fit the room. Choose a SkiErg when vertical clearance and a verified mounting or stand plan fit better. Choose a bike when a stable corner and seated conditioning path are the priority.
None of these published dimensions proves that a machine is right for your building, schedule, or body. The useful next step is a taped rehearsal at the time of day you will actually train, followed by a setup decision that keeps the training job ahead of the product handoff.
