Wall-Assisted Ab Rollout
Use a declared wall stop to learn rollout distance and return control before moving to a longer open-floor range.

01 / Set up
Build the position.
- Place the wheel on a stable surface facing a wall and measure a stop distance that keeps the wheel from reaching the wall.
- Kneel on a mat with the hips stacked over the knees, grip the wheel, and confirm the wall, wheel, and return lane are clear.
02 / Execute
Do the work.
- Roll toward the wall while keeping the trunk and wheel line organized.
- Use the wall distance as a stop cue rather than crashing the wheel into the wall.
- Return to the kneeling start under control, then reset before the next repetition.
Useful cues
The wall is a boundary
Reach without dropping
Return on your line
03 / Troubleshoot
Common ways it drifts.
- Placing the wall stop farther away than the return can support
- Using the wall as an impact target
- Changing the kneeling position between repetitions

What this page can claim.
Research can support a training category or expose a hazard without proving every stance, range, cue, or progression on this page.
3 evidence notes / 4 source linksResistance training is the supported category.
The 2026 ACSM position stand supports progressive resistance training for muscle function, hypertrophy, and physical performance in generally healthy adults, with multiple workable equipment and prescription choices.

Range and cues remain adjustable.
A systematic review found that resistance-training range can affect strength and lower-limb hypertrophy, while a separate review found that attentional-focus effects vary across lifting tasks and populations.

Trunk-control transfer is mixed.
A systematic review of 24 studies found mixed direct performance results and noted that core-stability work was often embedded inside broader training programs.
